IZ ZADR practice: By chance (ch. 1)

It all happened in a flash, and by chance he was there to witness it.
Zim had fallen, no he was pushed by some stranger, into the deep depths of the park lake.
Dib had witnessed it, fear rising up in his body, when Zim didn't surface immediatly. So he ran, and jumped into the lake's waters, and went under.
The water was frozen, shock went though his body as he was chilled to the bone. . . He felt numb, he felt anxious, in the lake's dark depths.
He was glad he had decided to wear goggles that day instead of glasses like usual, including he was at a science expo, with his dad just moments ago. He searched for Zim.
Excruciating fear waved in his body when he could not find Zim, but hope finally replaced it, when he saw the green of the Irken's face.
Dib quickly went down grabbing Zim's arm, he swam up, and out of the water, dragging the unconscious alien with him.
Once on the surface of the water, Dib noticed people gathered around, chatting worriedly. Dib swam to the nearest spot of dry land, and laid Zim on it's moderatly dry surface. People gathered around them, one was contemplating with another, whether or not to call an ambulance.
Dib knew this was his chance to expose Zim, for what he was. He looked down at the alien, shocked. Zim's skin was completely red, blisters appearing on the surface. His eyes had dark circles under them, and he was covered in bruises, and scratches. Someone, or something had been abusive towards the smaller Irken. . .
Dib picked him up bridal style, and began to run. Zim was not going to be exposed today, not like this!
Once far enough away, Dib placed Zim on the ground again, and placed a ear on his chest. He was breathing, yet only small shallow breathes.
Dib needed to get him help. . . He thought hard on what to do, and found it appropriate to bring him to his base, where the computer could possibly fix him. However he would have to hurry, to save Zim's life.
